Two for Joy is reflection on grief, faith, and joy. Ian composed the collection over a period of a couple of years, throughout the pandemic, but the main bulk of writing came after the death of his mother in the summer of 2021. Through the music, he was able to explore loss and life, family, friendship and well-being. Two for Joy is about humanity and survival. Beginning with the poignancy of ‘Breath’, it ends in the freedom of ‘Murmuration’, in a return to the earth and into the skies.

The album was recorded by Robbie Stamp at Sandpit Studios in Easton (Bristol) over two weekends, with an assortment of unusual microphones and lots of biscuits.
